Taking place on March 24 and 25 2012, the Wellington Boot Racing Carnival is one of the biggest and most popular country race meetings this side of the great divide.

‘The Boot’, as it is known to locals, has attracted a number of celebrity visitors since starting in 1981 including the likes of former Miss World Belinda Green and Getaway star Catriona Rowntree. Stay tuned to see what celebrity will be present in 2012.

While racing takes place over both days of the carnival, it is the VB Gold Wellington Boot which is most popular. The open 2-year-old race is held over 1100 metres with the prize money being increased to $60,000 in 2012.

The great part is that even if you’re not one for punting, there’s plenty to keep you interested off the track including the ever-popular Fashions on the Field competitions.
